I Get To Vote For The First Time..!! Really Dumb!!
Its April 13th 2011, and the Assembly Elections are finally here after the craze over the change of rule that each and every citizen of Tamilnadu wants for now. All over Facebook, TV and other media, it seemed as if all the youth generation like students like me, wanted a governor ruling state to stop corruption and other illegal crisis and threats to the people. Leaving those aside, it was my day where I get to vote for the first time after 19 long years and I was pretty excited. I was hoping to vote for 49-O, which actually represents that I do not wish to vote for anyone but the Election Commission of India does not keep our vote for 49–0 as a secret and instead, it registers us using an application form with a reason why we have no interest in voting to any party. This definitely collapses the idea behind the voting by which removes one of the dire needs of people during elections called privacy.
So I woke up late in the morning as usual, totally forgot that today is the Voting Day. Then mom hurried me to get ready for leaving since the booth will be filled with people with long queues which make us wait for a long time. I got ready in half an hour, had breakfast and headed to the Voting Booth which was a nearby school. I had got my Voting ID and slip (both having wrong spelling of my name like the other lakhs of Tamilnadu people suffering like me). When I had reached the school, already the booths were loaded with lots and lots of people with long queues. Since my batch and my parents batch were different, I had to stand alone in the queue with my batch. It was dead-boring for me, so I took out my Ike (Nokia 5800) and started texting to my friends and updating my status on Facebook. I also took some boring snaps here and there which made the people look at me like I’m out of this world. The line moved on and I got near the polling booth. The officers checked my IDs and got my signature (or should I say my autograph :P) in their ugly-looking registers and they placed another stupid black mark on my left index finger. To my shock, when I went to the polling machine, there was no sign of the party which wanted to vote alternatively and also the election officers did not help me to vote for the 49-O. So, leaving the life of the Tamilnadu people at stake, I just pressed a button without any interest and heard the stupid beeping sound. That beep showed that my vote was successfully registered and I ran away disappointed from that stupid place. Then I waited in the burning sun for my parents to finish their voting and I was searching for a juice stand to get some cool drink for the hot afternoon. Unfortunately, all shops were closed due to the elections and I just relaxed myself on one of the wall with a sigh look on my face. After sometime, my dad finished this polling and we started walking towards home. Lastly when I came out of the school, I took a snap of the entrance for which the stupid watchmen started scolding me and started to chase me. I ran towards my dad and got into our neighbor’s Mahindra Xylo and we came home. The End! And Oh, for those who are curious to know about my experience, It was sick and dumb! I hate this day!
