CyberNautz — Now Just A Thing Of The Past…

It’s August 14th 2011, and I’m happy to share the news that I’ve got new additions to my workplace. One is my New Buddy Doll named Muffy (A Dino) and My New Samsung Multifunction Laser Printer named Ebby (Samsung SCX-3201) which you can check it out here. And as I had mentioned in my previous post, Last week was the Cybernautz week — the week where I had to fully spend working for our technical symposium. The event finally took place this friday in our NIET Seminar Hall. We had more than 70 participants from various colleges to take part in the symposium and my job was to design the banners, certificates and other items for it. On the Day of the function, unfortunately my job turned out to be one of the worst jobs one can ever have! I had to sit with a laptop, present videos to the audience, and help the participants to present their paper presentations.

In my point of view, Cybernautz ’11 definitely didn’t go well. Many of the events clashed together and the whole day felt like it was screwed up. I didn’t have my breakfast in the morning since I woke up late and I didn’t get to the have lunch either due to the busy work. After reaching the college, most of the things were not prepared properly which disappointed me a lot starting with the absence of a computer and a projector which we will be one of the main requirements of the symposium. Arumugam was so busy that he ignored me a lot but anyway he managed to arrange a laptop by calling Kirthika. The laptop belonged to my fan Saranya Selvamani and that could be one of the things that made me excited that day. I connected it to the projector with the help of a staff and I had setup multi monitor display, which made many of my classmates wonder how I did it. Saranya had a wallpaper of the Lord Ganapathy on the desktop which I had to change into the Cybernautz wallpaper for the sake of audience. Then started the nightmare when the clock struck about 10am and the event had started. The students had took their places on the dais along with the Chief guest who was the Assistant General Manager from BSNL. After the various speeches from my friends, the Chief guest took a lot of time explaining about the services that BSNL offered to its customers, for which I had to change slides one by one for his presentation. Following that, I couldn’t move for the refreshment break as I had to make arrangements for the paper presentation event which was to be held in a few minutes. Luckily I took a minute later to rush to the canteen and have some snacks at the end.

At about 11.30 AM, the paper presentation event started. I had to copy each participant’s presentation to the desktop and help them present it. That boring work didn’t end till 3PM which obviously made me to skip my lunch (This is good actually, since my friend Bagavath had informed me later in the evening that the Lunch was so horrible the the participants were not able to eat even half of it). Following the paper presentation, we had the final round of the Quiz and the ending ceremony at about 3.30 PM. Finally the Cybernautz had its demise at about 4.15PM and only then I started to have some fun. I had reverted the wallpaper to the previous one and gave the laptop back to Saranya. Then I started wandering the hall with no motive like a brainless kid and I got a chance to bring my 20-year old wish to reality. My wish was to pop some balloons which I had done before and a Very Big Thanks to my friend Suganya, who helped me to accomplish the task by giving a needle to me to pop some balloons and bring my wish come true. It was very fun to pop them, and I had popped almost 20 balloons! I was so excited as I jumped with joy in the Seminar Hall while Lilly was busy in taking some flowers from the bouquet kept idle on the stage. Then Me, Arumugam, Suganya, Nantha, Kasi, few other boys and the Staff looted some notepads, files and biscuits from the remains of the participant giveaways and headed back home.

One of the very saddest things of the day could be the fact that I was virtually blind all day long since I spent the whole day inside the seminar hall and I was not aware of any event that took place that day in the other halls. I was not even able to see many of my friends’ presence who might have been in color dress and Nalini was one of them which makes the day look tragic at the end. Overall, I give the Cybernautz — 3/10 score and my Happiness score for the day has to be 6/10.
